The Endeavour Inlet Conservation Trust is built on the commitment, enthusiasm and hard work of volunteers. From servicing trap lines and maintaining tracks to controlling wasps, collecting data and helping with governance, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.
Each year hundreds of volunteer hours are contributed by a few local residents, supporters and partner organisations. Their efforts enable the Trust to maintain an extensive conservation programme across a large and challenging landscape that would otherwise be beyond the resources of a small community organisation.
Volunteering also creates opportunities for people to connect with the natural environment, learn new skills and contribute to the protection of one of the Marlborough Sounds' most special places. The achievements of the Trust are a direct reflection of the dedication and generosity of the many people who give their time to support conservation in Punaruawhiti / Endeavour Inlet.
We are always pleased to welcome new volunteers and supporters to help continue this important work.
Outward Bound has become an important partner in our conservation work. Through the Mahi Aroha programme, students assist with trap installation, track development and vegetation clearing, helping us expand and maintain predator control across Punaruawhiti / Endeavour Inlet while gaining hands-on conservation experience.
There are many ways to get involved with the Trust, from checking trap lines and assisting with monitoring programmes to joining one of our working groups or helping with practical conservation projects. No previous experience is required—full training and support are provided.
